The Karma Train is always coming; sometimes it just takes longer than expected to arrive.

Hi, I'm Lori

LORI ALSTERBERG

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
                                         --Dr. Suess

People know me as a builder, not a hammer and nails builder but a builder of businesses and relationships. I'm a great storyteller; I love my Jeep, the Red Sox, and napping.  Well, the napping and storytelling come naturally to me, my Jeep? Well, it's a Jeep thing. The Red Sox are in my blood, born and raised in a suburb of Boston, I really have no choice.

My affinity for storytelling comes from my childhood, a time when we still rode bikes without helmets, came in when the street lights when on and only got to watch cartoons on Saturdays - you guessed it - just one channel dedicated to cartoons, how I survived I'll never know.

Like most my age,  my mother would tell me to get out of the house for the day, so I did what every pre-adolescent with an over-active imagination would do, I made up stories to amuse my friends. My imagination was fueled by a voracious appetite for mystery novels and a general disregard for the status quo.

Now, I'm at the height of my career (so far), I've loved every minute of what I've done. My friends and loved ones sometimes nod off when I talk about what I do, but frankly, I find it all very exhilarating. Everything is changing so fast and it's incredibly challenging and rewarding at the same time. I love rolling up my sleeves and getting into the heart of the business.  Honestly, I'm simply too old not to have fun at work and too young to hate what I do.

You see, I've spent my career thinking about people and their journey to become a customer, I'm still shocked and amazed that some companies still get in their own way when it comes to getting new customers. Ever call, email or go online to buy a product and you need to speak with a human but can't? It happens all the time and that makes me nuts. Technology hasn't improved this problem and in some cases has made it significantly worse. That's what started it for me, the desire to make it better, easier and faster.

As someone who considers myself a builder, I gravitate toward companies that have some issue to "fix" or some challenge or hurdle to overcome. I succeed in companies looking to grow and build, companies that understand that when teams collaborate and challenge the status quo they can achieve extraordinary results.

I can tell you that I've built a career building marketing organizations from the ground up, realigning marketing teams to drive efficiencies and restructuring teams to optimize talent. I have developed go-to-market strategies, crafted value propositions, content and nurture programs to drive growth, conducted market and competitive analysis, identified customer segments for growth and collaborated with teams around the world to drive business results, but I guess this is where my friends and family begin to nod off.

I'm grateful that I never lost my knack for storytelling, my creative imagination, and my appetite for mystery novels, my love of napping, my Jeep or pure adoration of all things Red Sox.

Cheers,

Lori
